This policy explains how Prestige Macadamia(“we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through macadamia.co.za. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us. If you complete the enquiry form on our contact page, we receive:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your company name, if you supply one
- The enquiry category you select
- The message you write
If you email or phone us directly, we hold whatever you include in that correspondence. We do not run advertising trackers, we do not build behavioural profiles, and we do not buy contact lists.
Why we use it
We use your information for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, where it leads to a trading relationship, to manage that relationship. In practice that means replying to you, preparing quotes, arranging samples, fulfilling orders and keeping the records a business is required to keep.
We will not add you to a marketing list on the strength of an enquiry alone. If we ever offer a newsletter, it will be a separate, clearly labelled opt-in.
Our lawful basis
We rely on your consent, given when you tick the consent box on the enquiry form, and on the legitimate interest both parties have in communicating about a possible supply arrangement. Where we hold records for tax or trade compliance, we rely on our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent they need it. That may include our website host, our email provider and, where an enquiry becomes an order, our logistics and payment partners. These providers act on our instructions and are bound to protect the information they handle.
Some of these providers operate servers outside South Africa. Where information crosses a border, we satisfy ourselves that the receiving country or provider offers protection comparable to POPIA.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a trading relationship are deleted within 24 months. Records tied to an actual sale are kept for the period South African tax and company law requires, currently five years from the end of the relevant tax year.
How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry records is limited to the people at Prestige who need it to do their job. We keep software current and review access periodically. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your information seriously and will notify you and the Information Regulator if a breach affecting you occurs.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Any cookies present are strictly necessary ones set by our host to serve the site and keep it secure. Because we set no optional cookies, there is no consent banner to dismiss.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need
- Withdraw consent you previously gave
- Object to processing in certain circumstances
- Complain to the Information Regulator

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site rather than made quietly.
